AISI 9840 stainless?

Hi all,

Well, the title of this thread already says it.
Is AISI 9840 stainless? Or can it rust in a 'normal' (but humid) atmosphere?

9840 is just a Cr-Mo steel. You need to be up over 12% Cr to really get any stainless, and with high C you would need higher Cr than that.
