allowed file extensions for attachments

Please could we have .m files - Matlab and Octave, and .sci and .sce for Scilab (not that that gets used much)
 
For that matter, why is there even a limitaion on the file type, aside from maybe executables; even PowerPoint files should be allowed, as should Python extensions.
 
Since .zip is allowed, everything is allowed. Even if it weren't, you can always change file extensions to an allowed value & note what to change them back to in the post (though this is annoying, it proves the futility of allowing only selected file extensions)! As proof, I've attached a random Windows executable (part of the intermediate build process of a program I'm working on) by renaming it to .txt.

So in reality it adds a tiny bit of security, in that deploying the virus now takes an extra step.
