does anyone knows about superflexikit used on aloutte helicopter?

basically, this superflexit used on aircraft fule tank, but i do not know what is the reason behind. rumors that this superflexit self-sealing material used to prevent from leaking. anyone knows what is the purpose of selfsealing superflexit used on fuel tank?
