I know most cooling towers are made of treated Douglas Fir.
i am getting all of the materials to reconstruct my tower, but not Douglas Fir,but Greenheart .

Greenheart is used in marine allpications for planks and pilings for jettys, it is water resistant and very tough.

Is there anyone out there who has used alternative hardwoods, or even Greenheart, in a tower and got satisfactory results?

We are going to fibregall composites to increase the life and reduce maintenance and fouling.

Greenhart may be a suitable application.
