alternators in parallel 1

Does anyone know of an aircraft that has two or more ac generators (alternators) that are operated in parallel?
That is, as opposed to each alternator feeding it's respective bus and then tying the busses together when one alternator fails.
Military or commerical, fixed wing or rotary wing.
Also, has it been tried in the past and been dropped because of problems?

The B727,747 (early series), DC-10, and L1011 are some types that used parallel generators. Split buses are used in B757, B767, B737 and DC-9. The B747-400 uses a split parallel system which allows all in parallel, or it can be split as two seperate halves, or systems.

Aviat- thanks for the information.
I'm trying to find out if there is a weight/reliability
benefit with either method and if someone has done a study and published a paper.
I don't want to reinvent the wheel.
