Anyone ever used welded Aluminum Tubing?

My customer has told me he doesn't want to use Stainless or Carbon Steel Pipe to connect a Blower to the Dust Filter, he wants to use Aluminum (4 in.).

Anyone have any suggestions/tips on this?

I haven't used Alum OD Tubing so I am a little unsure of any potential problems.

Thanks,

If you weld it, use the lower annealed allowable stress values.

I used it years ago for material handling in PVC manufacturing. It was a dry material (dust like). It was common for them to use the alum tubing. Treat it, design wise as you would ss tubing. I am trying to remember the company name that make the valves, fittings, sweeps, etc. I will have to look it up and let you know.

Besides using a high frequency welding machine, not much different. However not sure what final product is with regards to design/pressure/etc..
