There was an old thread on this subject (thread2-127095)...

I need the material properties, allowables for Aluminum Alloy 7178-T6511.

Does anyone have them? As mentioned in the old thread, apparently MIL-HDBK-5 rev D had them but I cannot get my hands on it. I have Rev J, as well as AR-MMPDS.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Phil

PhilLee..

I'm pretty sure You have to get a copy of MIL-HDBK-5D [mid 1980s]. This alloy definitely disappeared from -5E.

The MIL-HDBK-5D is available thru IHS Specs and Standards.

Regards, Wil Taylor

IHS will not allow me to access anything from MIL-HDBK-5 or MMPDS these days.

I have data from 1962 for 7178. If you want stuff that old let me have a suitably disguised e-mail address, fax or whatever, and I can send you the relevant pages.

Wil Taylor,
I have confirmed that a paper copy of Rev D is available from IHS ($247).

RPstress,
If you could fax the pages to 613-254-6339 that would be greatly appreciated.

Phil
