Hi all,
I recently had an aluminum sample tested for composition and tensile strength. The composition looked close to 7050, but just slightly off. The tensile was much higher than I expected or am aware of how to achieve. This was a tube more or less (image attached).
How do you achieve these strengths from this aluminum?
I am also trying to find a similar alloy to in tube form. Any trusted resources to find tube forms in this material (7050)? Would it make more sense to speak to an extruder? Is it possible this was forged and finish machined?
Tensile testing was performed per ASTM E8-24 and ASTM B557-17 using a Satec Systems Model: Apex
22EMF, S/N: 1017, with a calibration due date of 04/04/2025. Testing was performed on 10/14/2024.
