I am having an issue wherein no matter how I turn the alignment screws, I can't get my tape shot to pierce the tape. Without the reference of the pierce hole on the tape I have no way of knowing if my nozzle unit is centered or not. Has anyone else encountered this problem? It has happened to me a few times but I can never figure out what exactly is causing it. Thanks.

And before anyone even asks, yes, my shutter is open.

I don't know the Amada but I'm sure the same principle can apply. With the Bystar if the alignment is way out I have to take the nozzle off put the tape on again and do a shot that way. Could be firing way way off to one side so needs a heap of adjustment. When you have it back near the center without the nozzle in, put it back on and do another shot with the tape on the nozzle again to fine tune it.

If you ask me to do something, I will do it. There's no need to nag me every 6 months

Unfortunately, I have tried this and even without the nozzle in, I am not getting a pierce on the tape. Could be that its just that far out of whack, but I would think there would be at least something visible on the tape.

And do you have a cutting problems? If not, you could encrease duty for tape shot.

Managed to get a pierce finally by ramping the power way up, then tuning it back down to get a smaller more usable hole. Thanks all

I will say however, that the tape shot procedure feels incredibly stone age compared to the rest of the technology surrounding the laser. How has a better system not been standardized yet??

I have to turn power up or down depending on nozzle im using. If its too far off and tape shot isn't working take head off flip it upside down on a table and center the cone by eye balling each gap around cone. Youll see what I mean once the head is in front of you and you usually can see how far off you were by the gaps around the cone anyways then take a tape shot and you should be in the vicinity of the center. keep this in mind it will help you one day[machinegun]

check for dirty mirrors you might be losing power to a dirty mirror thats why you need to adjust power
