Hello, I'm an operator for an amada log 3015al fiber optic laser. Is the anyway to check the continuity of the z wire to determine if is is faulty? I have recently replaced the connector holder after having some issues with the system having a z soft over travel + issue when trying to pierce the material. I was also having an occasional z wore break associated with this issue. The problem seemed to be resolved and replacing the connector holder. We ran and cut great for over a week and now I'm having continued z wire break alarms preventing me from cutting. So the question I have is how do I determine if the z wire is faulty or if it's another issue? Thank you in advance for any responces.

It may be the wire or it could be that the pin or socket is making a poor connection at the connector. It happens sometimes that damage or corrosion is preventing a sufficiently good connection. You probably need to find someone experienced with how connectors can be depinned without damaging them to do this check, but you can check the socket on a connector by finding a copper wire of similar diameter to the mating pin to insert into the socket to see if there is a tight fit. Be careful about this as a wire that is too large can overstress the socket, damaging the connector.

Thanks for the reply! I managed to get back cutting today by turning g off the tracing sensors and doing a height sense adjustment. Not sure if it actually helped but saw in another thread. I've done the majority of the repairs on this machine for the last three years as my boss doesn't like to use amada technicians. Thanks for the tip about checking to see if the socket has a good fit. Will try tomorrow if the z wire break shows up again. Thanks
