We are getting this message this morning, looking for procedure now, if anyone has it I would greatly appreciate it. If I find it first, I will post it.

Thanks

Is this an APC machine or does it have dogs(limit switch) for home position? I have a procedure for our FOM2 that should be close enough if you are just needing to reset your b axis home position (assuming it is APC controlled)

We got it going with Amada's help, though not sure it's most efficient way (he wasn't sure either)

Our FO3015 has the B-Axis parameters saved by battery backup, looks like batteries must of failed.
This morning it started with an alarm 300, then in process the axis got jogged into a hard limit which caused a 2118 alarm. had to reset that physically by loosening the limit switch then jog into safe area. then throgh a lot of trial and error with Amada Tech (he was here for warranty work on newer machine) we used this procedure.

1. Jogged it into physical limit, then backed off a little.
2. Set Parameter 1815 B A-xis APC and APZ both to 0, rebooted
3. Set APC to 1, rebooted
4. Set APZ to 1, rebooted (now B position displayed the upper limit value from the battery backup I think)
5. Jogged into negative direction
6. Zero Retracted all 4 Axes and all was good to go.

This is from memory watching so please correct me if I have anything obviously wrong or I have wasted steps

just documenting this in case I have to remember this 2 years from now

Sparky,
It does have physical home and limit switches. 3 micro switches on front of beam nozzle assy that get actuated from dog as focus travels up or down. I found this in a word document in our amada folder on our network, no idea where it came from (probably here) its for different system than ours but very close and may actually work better, ill try it next time. here it is

Amada LC-1212 B-Axis Zero / Homing Reference Procedure

The B-axis is equipped with a memory so that normally it is not needed to reference in
the morning during normal power up. After a battery change, or any other event that
causes the reference to be lost you will need to follow this procedure in the Fanuc 160i or other similar controls.

If B has overtraveled in the + direction and stopped at ~0.830 on the readout, removal of the ballscrew cover on the laser head may be necessary and the servo shaft being turned backwards using a small blade screwdriver in the provide slot on the end of the ballscrew. Typically turning it while watching the on-screen DRO until its ~0.250 less than the overtraveled value and backed off its limit / hard stop.

1. MDI mode
2. [OFFSET SETTING] key
3. <SETTING> soft key
4. Set Parameter Write Enable to 1 then [INPUT] key (Alarm will flash. Ignore or press [CANCEL] and [RESET] if desired)
5. [SYSTEM] then <PARAM> soft key
6. Type 1815 then <NO SCH> soft key
7. Arrow down to highlight B-axis
8. Type 00000000 and press [INPUT]
9. Type 1425 then <NO SCH> soft key
10. Change parameter from 50 to 100, [INPUT]
11. Cycle the control Off then back to On
12. After boot, go to Reference / Zero / Homing mode
13. Hold the B+ button then pressing and holding the adjacent Enable button. Watch the numbers on the Position readout screen. When the numbers and B servo accelerate, release the button. The B light will illuminate

19. Type 00100000 and press [INPUT]
20. Cycle the control Off then back to On
21. After boot, go to Reference / Zero / Homing mode
22. Home the B-axis, typically in the negative direction, and in similar manner to #13 above

The way you did it sounds pretty close to what I have had to do in the past. I have a little more in depth version for our FOM2 that tells you to check the motor load during your adjustments, but I guess I always got lucky and it worked. I have had to replace the worm gear assembly a couple times, the first time I disconnected the motor and had to do this procedure. luckily ours has 2 arrows that tell you where to line your B axis up to for the home position.

Im a bit confused as to why you would have to set APC to 1 if your machine uses limit switches. On ours it relies on the encoder count when you set your home position (APC = 1). Either way, glad you got it figured out.
