Amada 3015NT CO2 laser. Suffered a typical lateral head crash. Got typical Z-Sensor Wire Breaks alarm. New nose, Teflon packing, gaskets & o-rings, nozzle as usual, still had Wire Breaks alarm. Second shift then removed the Coupler Head, lower housing holding the nose etc. They put in New Coupler Head Cable, the wire going to the tiny pin in the tan Connector Holder, tiny pin touches nozzle when it's in. They reassembled, I returned today.
Now big mystery is Trace Controller alarm. Trace Off clears alarm. Will not calibrate Z axis, tried with Trace Off. Controller alarm came on after attempting this.
Also bigger mystery is no Z-Sensor Wire Breaks when nozzle is out, never seen this before.
Days wait for Amada tech. Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks

There are a couple things I'm confused about. I think the tan coupler, that the nozzle screws into, are for the FOM2.

The reason I pointed that out, is on the NT comes there are three hoses that can cause all kinds of sensors head issues. Those hoses where mostly eliminated on the M2.

On the M2 and F1 that use the tan connector, I have had one customer who got a brand new aftermarket one that completely did not work. The contact point for the pin was the wrong dimension.

Last, I'm not sure what trace controller alarm is. Calibration failed usually means a bad sensor board, sensing alarm is usually from the nozzle touching material a certain number of times, trace error is caused by wavey material making the sensor head work too hard (kind of).

My point is there are a few different alarms that sound like they mean the same thing but they actually don't.

Would you be willing to post some pictures of your cone and the alarm codes you are getting?

Sorry for delay, fixed now.
First, whoops machine is FOM2 3015 NT.
The Trace Controller Alarm apparently caused by a damaged amplifier. This is a small gold box, mounted just above and behind purge-water line, glass doors side. Dent in amplifier. Our tech is super cool. Opinion is it was damaged previously by part tip up, and with this jolt it simply gave up. Actually flattened dented box and it works ok. Did replace the tri-axial cable for this amplifier, which had suspected connector damage.
The tan ring "Connector Holder" and its cable are aftermarket but ok.
The Z-Sensor Wire Breaks mystery: Small ceramic washer missing from nozzle release air line, above elbow into cone. So the braided steel around air line was touching the elbow, messed up Z-Wire circuit. Found ceramic washer, back in.
Tech had head all apart and lowered to clean the surfaces for Cutting Head Connection. So after all this, and two shifts working on it, could be more than these two descriptions. Also found out a touchy Z-Wire circuit will sometimes cause the Calibration Failed.
I will post pictures a bit later

I appreciate the follow up. Sounds like the Amada guy did a great job. I'm glad it worked out.

This forum has been around for quite some time. Maybe not as active as it once was but still useful. Yes, I contribute a little, but more importantly, it's people like you that make the difference. Having a problem, posting the solution, helping people out, that's what keeps it going.

Thank you.
