hello mates!
I came across a difficulty while designing a tank, AMETank software is self Selecting the top course height, on re-evaluation I found that it is adding the top curb angle length to top shell course and giving me:
total length of top shell course = shell top course selected by plate size - top curb angle Length

To make it more clear: (top Curb Angle selected: 80*80*6 )
length required = 530 mm
top curb angle length = 80 mm
answer given = 450 mm

your opinion will be highly appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand the problem.
It sounds like the software interprets the shell height to include the top angle height, while you're assuming the shell height is to the bottom of the top angle.
In which case, you can just input nominal shell height that is 80 mm taller than what you're putting in now?
 
Software is correct.

It depends on the selection of curb angle/compression ring joint configuration. (Figure F.2—Permissible Details of Compression Rings)
As per your case it seems to be detail(d) selected

There must be joint configuration selection option in software. I have not used AMEtank so cannot tell exactly where it would be.

If you want to keep shell length same as your input, try using detail(b)
