I have a requirement to weld assemblies using material IAW AMS-S-6758 "Condition C or D".
Condition C is annealed.
Condition D is normalized.
This specification tells me that annealed (Condition C) may not be greater than Brinell 229, which I convert to HRC 21 (max) or a UTS of about 111ksi.
This spec tells me nothing about required hardness or strengths of Normalized Condition D.
Is annealed and normalized condidered to be the same??
This spec does not tell me anything about minimums either! which I will be required to demonstrate in my weld procedures. Now I can pick values out of any old handbook and other PQR tests, but I need the strength and elongation requirements to trace to the original AMS 6758 spec.
Have you been in this situation and where do you look?
Thanks if you can help.
