an alternative to GINT 5

Engineers,

Does anyone recommends a soil profile (fences) software other than GINT?. I know the boring logs can be generated by any other software (e.g LOGDRAFT), however the soil profiles (fences) in GINT could be generated almost automatically which is the main reason i liked it. However, i noticed that instead of purchasing a lifetime license, now they push users to buy annual license and its prices i consider they are somewhat steep.

I don't want to deal with CAD and drawing all the soil profiles as i understand they are time consuming.

There should be an alternative to GINT out there.

Fugro have a piece of software called GeODin which is good. There is also a program called Holebase which seems okay too. As ever with these things, you obviously need to spend a bit of time creating the logs in the format you want first, but once created, it's obviously much more efficient to log soils data.

Apparently the powers that be tell me we are switching from Bentley Gint to Open ground wich has been bought out by Bentley as well.

There is a free application out there that I have found to be useful, EasyLog.

I used winlog in the past and it was easier and generally better than Gint. Not sure if winlog still around though.

Our firm recently purchased a copy of BorinGS by Gookin Software to evaluate. It's a standalone boring log program that is inexpensive with no subscription. I have played around with it a bit and am on the fence. You can download a free trial but can't save more than one hole (or it has some other limitations, not sure). We currently use GINT but are fed up with the subscription and overage fees.
