Im looking for an anaerobic adhesive that will work well on silicone rubber. Ive tried one that works extremely well on nitrile, but it didn't seem to want to stick at all to the silicone. Do I need a special type ? Any help would be appreciated.

Gerry, since anaerobics cure in the absence of air and the presence of metal it is difficult to get them to adhear to silicone. Some of the bigger companies such as Loctite, GE sealents and adhesives, and 3M engineered adhesives sell an activator that helps in the cure. Dave Herrick at Loctite (260 492-9565) has always been a help. Good luck.

Thanks. I didnt know metal was important to the curing process. I'll give the Loctite people a call.

Hi Gerry,

look also for silicone-based adhesives (2-Component or 1-Component heat-cure, not moisture cure). As a rule of thumb, silicone adheres to silicone.
Hope this helps.
