Analyzing a fill surface area in Drafting

Once you have created an area fill in Drafting...is there any way to just analyze it to find out what the filled surface area is?

The only way I could think of, select the profile geometry and Cntrl C to copy, Go into GSD, create a sketch, Cntrl V to paste. exit sketcher. Use the fill surface command in GSD, then measure surface area.
