Quick question; load rating some exterior walkway handrails. To anchor the handrail posts they just cored out the concrete and rested them in the holes. Now, ASCE07 states that the minimum load must be applied in any direction but this seems unrealistic that you could get direct uplift without some lateral load.
I'm assuming that as the code makes it quite clear with any direction that it must be designed for direct uplift but I wanted a second opinion on this.
