When creating an angular dimension I used to see the degree (°) symbol. But since upgrading to 2009 I now see the letters "deg" in the dimension. I have searched help and options but cannot figure out how to get the symbol back. Any help welcome. Thanks.

Which SP?

Have you rebooted since upgrading to SW09?

Did you do a clean install?

Is you graphics card approved for SW09 and did you update the graphics driver?

What standards do you have Solidworks set for? I suspect that either the standard itself has changed or you accidently got your install set to a different one.

Under Tools> Options> Document Properties> Dimensions, if both the Check-Boxes for "Dual dimensions display" and "Show units for dual display" are ticked, it will display the word Deg instead of the degree symbol you're after.

Hope this helps!

Ta for the star CBL!

I found this behaviour out by chance while trying to do a dual dimension with degrees and radians.

I don't think it conforms to any particular standard though. My guess is that because the default display for "Basic unit dimensions" is just the numerical value, when they added the option to display the Units alongside the Dual dimensions, because they were going to use "in" and "mm" it was logical to use use "deg" instead of the symbol (even though it doesn't have a dual display for Angular dims), or maybe the programmer just couldn't remember the code for the symbol [bigsmile] !!
