Dimensioning a part with multiples of the same angle, what is the standard?

"2X" or "2 PLACES"

2X is the standard, but the last time I did it, the fabricator interpreted it as '2 times.' ??!??

@Nella95 That's why some companies prefer DIM #X as opposed to #X DIM.
 
Or it's why some vendors lose business or have high rework costs...

It seems that the same people who cling to the "PLACES" practice also adhere to the "TYP" practice. I have been scoffed at numerous times the unknowing and ignorant for pointing out that nowhere in ASME Y14.100 or in any of it's referenced subspecs does it say it's OK to be lazy and not bother to count the number of times the dimension applies.
