I have created an animation within ug but the render is awful. I can render still images and add materials etc but how do i apply to an actual animation file. At the moment it is just using the normal screen display with no anti-aliasing or anything.

Help much appreciated.

The animation rendering use the rendering settings used for still images in that part. You then should be able to get reflections, shadows etc.

Actual screen display, is it set to hardware render ?

The problem is choosing mpeg or gif as animation output, as the quality of the rendering can vary greatly.
I have succecfully used output to tiff, and it creates still images for each frame, that you can then join in an animation using other software.

But normally using mpeg1 should be ok.
