Has anyone attempted to use Animation Designer and Part Families on the same file?

Hello, I am updating my company's library. We use part families with expressions for our vendor components depending on the stroke, bore, etc. We've recently been using Animation Designer, and I cannot add a position motor to the part family Excel, but I can update the distance value. The issue is that once I create the child files, the animation designer expression does not update, but everything else does. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

I have only recently learned about this issue because I dont have anything to do with Animation Designer. In talking to Alex and others here at work, I was a little surprised nobody has offered any thoughts on this. So I figured I would try to explain the issue in different words based on my knowledge of Family Parts.

The problem as I understand it....

Imagine a clamp that has an expression attached to the opening position. If it is set to 20° in the file and in Animation Designer they want it to open to 45° they would change the expression in Animation Designer. Then when they hit play, the clamp should be shown opening to 45°.

However, the clamp in question is a child from a Family Part. When they hit play, it continues to only open 20° unless they go into it and double click the expression. Then it starts opening to 45° as it is supposed to. It all seems to operate correctly, but the expression is not automatically updating.

My personal thought on this is that because Family Part children are created as read only and locked. That may be stopping it from updating automatically in Animation Designer. But I dont know. That is only a guess.

**NOTE-- This is being done in Team Center...... and we have found a setting in Customer Defaults that has something to do with Delay Updates but it didnt make any difference.

Would anyone have any ideas why it wont automatically update?
