Annotation Display Problem

I have a file that has several Annotations and Dimensions on a Solid Model. They were put there using the Functional, Tolerancing, and Annotation application. Whenever I try to manipulate the model the annotations start to display entire planes of color that block my view from the part. If that doesn't happen, then the symbols used turn to trianlges. If I put the annotations in a drawing, they have large red X's across them and they also turn to non-ledgible symbols.

What is my problem? How do I fix it?

Thanks.

What service pack and release are you using? (always include that information when asking specific questions that might be bugs)

Sorry, i am using CATIA V5 R15 P2.

You don't have to include the P2.

Are you running a service pack? (it's either no, or SP1, at this point)

I don't recongize your problem specifically, but this is what I found:

Ironically enough, the first listing in the program directory was related to annotations...

Neither of those may answer your question directly, but sometimes there is overlap in functionality; therefore, it only stands to reason that there may be overlapping errors within similar functionality of a specific product.

I would suggest that you get ahold of R15 SP1, and see if your problem is resolved.

I cannot duplicate the problem in my session.

Sometimes my computer will freeze altogether if I am trying to manipulate the drawing and the part. Where can I find SP1?

Thanks

Jet..

We're running R15 SP0, but we're not seeing the problem you described. We have seen alot of other FTA problems in R14 and R15.

We just found out that TRUE TYPE fonts can cause problems with FTA annotations. Dassault recommended we not use them, until they start using Open Font Types in R16.

When it freezes, a dialog box pops up that says:

A check on data will be launched on active document
Command Interrupted

When it freezes, a dialog box pops up that says:

What does this error mean?

Command Interrupted is a fatal error. It should then be followed by "click OK to terminate."

You really should take that to your Catia administrator, and not to the forums. Your admin needs to be able to be made aware, so that they can investigate the problem, and write it up, if necessary. In doing so, he will be able to notify IBM/Dassault, and the problem will be addressed (if it has not already been) for future service packs and releases.

The problems are extensively documented, and given a priority, which is dynamic, depending on severity, and whether or not it was addressed on subsequent SPs or releases. It *will* be addressed, eventually.

Again, the bottom line is, get that problem reported right away. This is not an issue for a forum. It's one of the reasons that your company pays thousands of dollars per year in annual licensing fees, and for ongoing support!
