Is there any way to have drafting annotation follow a curve? We are trying to engrave on the outside of a hole following the OD. Is there a way to use the drafting annotation follow the OD so we can use the engraving function in CAM?

The is no way to get DRAFTING text to follow a Curve, but there's no problem doing that using Geometric Text. Just that you'll need to create the text while in Modeling but if the text is really going to represent something being engraved into the model then it should be part of the model to start with.

Thanks for the reply. The problem with using the text feature and extrude is machining time. Machining and programing a subtracted text feature takes much longer than running the NX CAM engraving program (hours as opposed to minutes). This might be something R&D should look into because I'm sure we are not the first to wonder about it. Unless there is a way to cut the time down we haven't used yet we will just continue doing what we have to work around it. Thank you again.

There used to be a GRIP program in GRIPLIB that helped you create notes around an arc. Each letter was a separate note.
I have a copy of it somewhere if you're interested.

That's what we do now. Thanks though.
