In a couple of weeks I will be starting a new job with a company who primarily use ANSYS suite. My expertise has previously focused on Abaqus, in the areas of thermo-mechanical stress, contact, fractures etc.

Apart from the usual familliarisation with the software, what, in your expert opinions, are the major differences?

Have many of you made the switch before?
Any tips/tricks to be aware of?
Capabilities / limitations / annoyances?

Already read the existing topic and a general google:
Thanks in advance.

Ansys Classic or Workbench?? we use workbench for 90% of all the work and only need to go to classic when it is something that is not yet available in workbench.
I have not used abaqus but can give praise to Ansys Workbench.
We are mainly using structural analysis for steel, nylons, poly and aluminium. also modal and buckling analysis.
Good luck with the new job!

Thanks,

I am not yet familliar with the different Ansys packages, but I understand they run "Ansys Mechanical", "Ansys Professional" and "Ansys Multiphysics" (Dyna, CFX, Autodyn etc).

Cheers
