Hey everyone,

First off I am new to the forum, so hang with me here. The 3D CAD program that I use for my Formula FSAE design project is Solidworks 2005 and I am trying to import geometry from Solidworks 2005 into ANSYS 10 for simulation. However, I am getting an error. The license process runs smoothly (I checked my licenses in FLEXlm Manager) and the double-barred window completes as it loads the geometry. However, right after that completes, an ANSYSWB Module Error screen pops up. It is one of those error screens where it asks for you to send or not send an error report. The error signature is as follows:
AppName: ansyswbu.exe AppVer:10.2005.194.1
ModName: dsgfxu.dll ModVer:10.2005.194.1
Offset: 00001116
As soon as I choose an option (send/don't send) Ansys closes leaving Solidworks open. I have also tried opening Ansys the long way and importing the geometry through that, however, the same error occurs at the same point, right after the double-barred geometry import screen is full. If anyone has experienced this and has any suggestions as to how to fix this problem, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Its been about a week now and I really need some help with this. Could someone please help?

A) Is this model specific? Can you import other models using the same method? If it is model specific try saving as a different format and importing that way if you have that option.

B) Try uninstalling the program completely then reinstall Ansys.

C) Contact your ASD for assistance on this matter. I used to work in tech support for another software company and 90% of these issues are typically fixed after about 10 minutes on the phone. If there's an update available it may be wise to download that as well.

Hi

How do you import the file?
The right way to do it is open the simualtie then click geometry in the toolbar then from file and then see if your extension is wright.

Have you tried saving the geometry you want as an IGES file and then importing it from the ANSYS Simulation window?

OR

I have had a similar problem with the automated system that reads in geometry of other CAD programs to ANSYS 10 and then adds contact regions... My issue however had to do with ANSYS not being able to find the CAD program because my computer lab upgraded from wildfire 2.0 to 3.0 and didnt change the paths in the ANSYS plugin that point to the location of Pro/E so that it knows where to find the CAD Program.

I would suggest that you go through the ANSYS installation/repair menus and see if you can find the options section for this plugin and make sure that its is up to date with the file structure on your computer.

I hope this helps...
And good luck with your FSAE 2007 build ^^

Alright, I have tried the following:

-tried importing geometry through Solidworks both as .sldprt and .igs
-tried loading geometry in ANSYS (Solidworks Geometry) both as .sldprt and .igs
-reinstalled ANSYS 10 more times than I can count
-I have also gone into the repair menu

None of these have fixed the problem. If anyone has any other ideas, I would appreciate it. Thanks again for all your help.

With the error information you have given you might want to try emailing ANSYS and asking them....

Have you tried installing the latest DirectX drivers? Perhaps you don't play enough video games to have the latest and most current drivers. (joke)

Hey everyone, I installed the latest version of DirectX and problem fixed. It was kind of a last resort/guess that my teammate (see the above post) suggested. So now he is rubbing it in. I guess I will let him have it while he can, he doesn't get the chance to often.

Well it fixed the problem until I restarted. After restarting my computer, the same error pops up. An ANSYS WB Module Error pops up with Send/Don't Send options immediately after the attach status bars completely fill up. I do not remember changing any settings in ANSYS or Solidworks after it worked during the previous start up. Please help. Thanks.

Hey everyone,

Got it to work. I had to update my video drivers for my NVIDIA Geforce 5200 fx.
