Hi Guys,

I have been trying to implement this in ANSYS all day. It is probably really simple but could you please help me:

The trouble is the spring support on the right hand end of the beam. I basically want to get the force in the spring due to different loads. I can't find a tutorial anywhere on spring supports.

Recommended for you

1) Apply the load
2) Pull out displacement results for the free end of the beam
3) You know the displacement, you know the spring constant, you can calculate the spring force.

This can be done clasically probably easier than using Ansys.

Ansys help has all the tutorials you will need for this type of problem, as will your text books.

Hope this ain't homework....

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I know it easier to solve this problem classically however I wanted to know how to implement it in ansys. My actual problem is more complex:

Any help is appreciated.

Exactly same principles,

Pull out deflections at location of spring attachments. Calculate spring force. Don't forget to account for the weight of the structure is significant.

This can also be done clasically with this problem, using beam deflection equations..

Seriously, read Ansys Help, it really does help when using Ansys....

Loads of examples for using springs in the VM.
