Hi,

I have a structure with constant and varying loads applied on it. What is the good approach for a "static analysis" in ANSYS? I think first I have to prestress the components with constant load and then apply the varying load by keeping the prestress data... Am I right? Could you provide me with details on how to do this?

Thanks.

you could do multiple static analyzes, superimposing different loads from you time varying loads onto the time independent load.

but you'd be missing the dynamic interaction between the structure and the load (tacoma narrows bridge for example), so you might want to do a dynamic analysis.

Thanks for the feedback... Actually, I am looking for a clear procedure on how to apply the two constant and varying loads in a static or pushover analysis.

?

take different time slices ... the varying loads will be different at the different times ...

loadcase 1 ... time = 1sec
subloadcase 1 ... time dependent loads
loads ...
subloadcase 2 ... teimindependent loads
loads ...

loadcase 2 ... time = 10sec

and so on ...
