I clicked on "ANSYS" from the program files, confirmed the terms and agreements now I get an error every time saying "Unabl to open file file.lock for WRITE. Check directory and file permissions.

Cant find a file.lock anywhere and dont know how to fix this.

Hi examorph,

just a quick question.

Are yo trying to run ANSYS in a directory which you dont have write access to?
Not sure but i think that you need administrators rights to run ANSYS. Maybe you could right click the *.exe file and click Run as administrator.

Good luck

Best Regards

Is there some reason you aren't talking to the manufacturer?

I was running it from the start menu and I have tried run as admin and have full admin rights on the computer. I now have went into he ANSYSED folder and found an ANSYS executable file however, kept getting the error ANSYS90_DIR not set, therefore, I created an environment variable to the directory and it now runs fine. The Ansys 9.0 Output Window appears and starts fine however, I cannot find the GUI in which the simulations are ran. Could you please tell me how to get this up? Note. Workbench has always been working fine if that helps with anything.

This is on a company laptop I have just received therefore, any requests have to be made through IT and can take time therefore, I thought if its a "simple fix" asking the question here first may be faster.

Anyone know how to start the user interface from the output window or even open it externally. Only the output window opens when I run the ANSYS exe file.
