ANSYS Workbench 9.0 General Error

I am a new ANSYS user but have been working with various FEM programs for several years. I am trying to complete a frequency solution on an assembly and keep getting a general error. I have broken the assembly down into several sub-assembly and each of these assemblies run seperately but when I try and run the full up model I get a general error. If you have any suggestions on what the problem is or suggestions on how to find the problem please let me know.

You won't get any sort of answer with a question this vague. You need to tell some specifics of what problems it is that you're having.
 
I wish that I could have provided more information but at the time this is all that I had that is what is so frustrating! I have FINALLY gotten a different message "insufficient memory...simplify model". I have no idea how to simplify a model in ANSYS, is there a process by which I can set a mesh seed or # of elements on a curve? I will search the archives for more as well as search ANSYS help but suggestions would be great.
 
When you say "frequency solution" I assume you're trying to do a standard eigenvalue (modal) analysis. Lots of things could be causing your problem.

First thing to check is the error file (.err). Check in here for any warning messages, which may give you a clue why the error is occurring.

How many modes are you trying to extract? Have you asked for an unfeasibly large amount of modes, when say 100 may be sufficient?

How big is your model? Look at the total number of nodes and elements and the type of elements you are using to get a figure for the number of DOF in the model. If the model is very big, ANSYS may decide it can't extract the frequencies simply because it is just too big. On the other hand, your available resources may be insufficient to handle your model size. Try running the solution and looking at the Windows Task Manager stats (physical/core memory available etc) to see whether you are running low during the extraction.

You definitely need to provide more information though as Brian says.

Thanks for the comments, just to close this string I will let you know that the problem was to parts had a gap between them the designer had incorrectly assembled the model. As a result even though I had assigned the correct contact the solver couldn't handle this gap (obviously). Now that the gap has been removed the analysis is running.
