Dear All,

I am currently working on static analysis for cut out- antenna equipment (no aerodynamic loads )repair by doubler. The current design is with a doubler of same thickness as skin and trippler of 1 gauge more than that. The doubler extend to the next stringer bays with a 4 rows of fasteners.

For the joint strength analysis, a double lap joint is observed. Do we need to consider any secondary failures here? (eg.cleavage/shear out)

If we replace the design and use only the doubler with next guage thickness , then any extra calculation has to be done for the joint strength apart from the bearing?
Loads considered from prssurization (hoop stresss and long stress). Do we need to consider the tension load due to fuselage bending?

Thanks in Advance
Nidhin

"Do we need to consider the tension load due to fuselage bending?" ... yes, somehow !? you won't have an exact number (as you don't have OEM data). The most conservative estimate is ftu (as a total stress acting on the cut-out area). IMO fty is better, as ftu is so conservative that it makes the fastener design "extreme".

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?
