I was wondering if anybody had a copy of any documentation or operating manuals for the Anteus Model A-1 back pressure consolidometer, manufactured by Anteus Laboratory Testing Inc. of Mt. Vernon, NY (likely many decades ago). This model was sold in Canada by M&L Testing Equipment Co. Ltd.

I believe Geotest makes that. You might check with them. That is a constant rate of strain consol isn't it?

The Anteus A1 consolidometer was a prototype design manufactured long ago and has been replaced by more modern units sold by GeoTest. It was not designed to do CRS testing, but it should be possible to add the needed extra sensors and a loading-feedback system.

I used 2 of these units in my days in the Civil Engineering department at the University of Alberta. Contact their soils tech (Mr. Gerry Cyre at 780-492-3846) in Edmonton. Hopefully he still can find the manual for it.

If you have any difficulty, let me know, as I might be able to come up a manual elsewhere.

One final point - the sliding bellofram seal inside the cell tends to break down over time; I very much doubt replacements can be had now given their age. Watch out for a "sticky" response at low vertical stresses. Inspect them carefully for brittleness and tiny cracking before you run your samples!

Thanks for the tips! I certainly get the sense that I'm working with an antique. [bigglasses]
