Hi Engineers,
What is the advantages and disadvantages of using Antimony carbon vs Resin impregnated carbon? What are all the applications recommended?
Can we use Antimony carbon for sea water application(for 50000ppm cl content / 90000ppm salinity)? Which one is preferred?

Antimony carbon and resin impregnated carbon each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Antimony carbon offers good wear resistance and is often used in high-temperature applications due to its high thermal stability. However, it can be more brittle and less flexible compared to resin impregnated carbon. On the other hand, resin impregnated carbon provides excellent chemical resistance and mechanical strength, making it suitable for a broader range of applications, including those involving aggressive chemicals.

For sea water applications with high chloride content (50,000 ppm) and salinity (90,000 ppm), resin impregnated carbon is generally preferred due to its superior resistance to corrosion and chemical degradation in such harsh environments. Antimony carbon might not be as effective in these conditions, as it may suffer from reduced durability and performance. Thus, for applications involving seawater, resin impregnated carbon is the better choice.
