If any of you are die casting pros and / or know of a thorough die casting design fundamentals handbook, please would you share the title, author and publisher and ISBN?

Thank you

"Casting" by Kaiser Aluminum is not bad. Covers other casting methods besides die casting. I assume it is long out of print, by I will look up the ISBN number when I get home.

I also like the book recommended by swall:
Casting Kaiser Aluminum, 3rd Edn., (1974).
Seems to answer many questions that come up on aluminum castings.
No ISBN in my copy. Interesting perhaps, that there is no mention of Alcoa in the entire book or in the Acknowledgements (page 626). Mechanical properties originally determined by Alcoa are credited to the Aluminum Association.

In Fundamentals of Die Casting Design, G. Dar-Meir, PhD, makes some rather biting remarks about NADCA-sponsored research and published models. Anyone knowledgeable enough & with enough time to evaluate these remarks?

I am inclined to believe Mr. Dar-Meir; he has a good research basis for his work -- 'On gas/air porosity in pressure die casting,' PhD, U. of Minnesota (1995) and additional references.
However, he belabors with a grudge against MS Word, NADCA and Die casting Engineering editors:
Appendix A. 'What The Establishment’s Scientists Say' and Appendix B. (mostly correspondence with editors & NADCA).

His text and Appendices C & D seem solid mathematically. What seems lacking to me are plots comparing experimental data with his & others' models.

I wouldn't recommend using the NADCA guidelines. Regarding positional tolerances they are so ultra-conservative that the guidelines tend to rule out the use of castings in many cases. The best source for tolerancing data is a knowledgeable and reputable diecaster.
