dear all,

here is my problem: the substrate is 52 alloy pin, and we firstly electroplated nickel on it, then palladium. the thickness of nickel coating is 3 micrometers and that of palladium is 1 micrometer. after some kind of heat-treatment(which i can't tell), there are white spots (can be seen on the attachment)appearing on the Pd coating surface. the white spots was EDS tested to find that there is Pb in it, which we really don't know where it is from. considering its morphology, it seems deposited on the Pd coating surface. what i want to do is to find the ‘relationship’ with the coating to prove whether the Pb come from the coating or not? so i plan to cut the pin along the transverse direction to do SEM test, firstly find the white spots then do EDS analysis, and i hope i could find something interesting. any better idea, really appreciated. thanks in advance.
