Talked to a desginer that works for an integrated Ford supplier. He mentioned that Ford will be following the direction Chrysler took by dropping Catia and going to NX because of Dassault's refusal to integrate with Team Center.

A more accurate answer to the future of CAD and PLM at Ford is the answer to which tool is more valuable and intrenched at Ford, Teamcenter or Catia? If it holds that Catia V6 will not ever work with Teamcenter, then Ford will look at Enovia and the impact of replacing Teamcenter. If it is decided that Teamcenter is more valuable to Ford for whatever reason(s) and they can not convince Dassault to help with V6/Teamcenter, then a change in CAD tool will need to be considered. Whether that tool is UG or ProE which also works great with Teamcenter is another story.

All of that said, given the percieved loyalties of the Director in charge of this technology, "never" just may be a more accurate response.

Now I'm only an NX cam guy but, I can only imagine the millions of dollars to be spent converting Teamcenter data to Enovia...
Also given the pricing structures, I can't imagine why (unless your customers demand it). I work in the airframe industry and change jobs every 2-3 years chasing NX employment. Socal except for SpaceX has been consumed by v5 for airframe manufacturing. I hope the tide is changing on this at least in automotive now that airframe is devoid of NX...

Ford has an easier upgrade to NX as they are coming from Ideas and or Ideas/NX. The TeamCenter integration makes it easier for them to stay with the siemens family of tools. While Detroit has not liked a single CAD tool among the 3 boys, it prevents some job hopping, it is looking like NX may win all 3 accounts.
