Does anyone have Pro/E 20 and have it successfully running on XP Pro? Thanks for any help!

I did have it running on a lap top with standard XP a few years ago.

That is great news! Can you help me get mine up and running? I'm having trouble with the license. It keeps saying something like, "Couldn't obtain license." I have put the new MAC address in and host but i'm not sure if there is something else I need to change as well that I'm missing? Does anything need to be changed on the Intralink server?

I know that on my laptop, I had to take the Mac address of my wireless instead of the LAN.

You could give it a try.

Well, I'm installing this on a desktop so, no wireless. Any other suggestions?

I believe the license is generated from the host id but if that is modified directly the license will not work because the strings of numbers in the license file were based on a different host id. If you put your old network adapter in the new pc then it may work for you.

Well, that would be a problem because the old PC's NIC card is built on board the motherboard. I had PTC send me a new license file with the new MAC address and HOST ID. I just can't get it to work.

Can anyone help me on this? I will gladly pay for someone to successfully help me get this working.

You have to install the license server software first, even if it is a node locked standalone installation. Pro/E has to talk to the license server via the NIC even if both are on the same machine.

Also, make sure you turn the Windoze firewall OFF and maybe your virus scan too until you get it working.

Is that FlexLM? If so, I have tried to install that but it keeps failing. I have moved it from the old NT machine and can run the software. I can't remember what EXE file it is right now but it says its running. Did you run yours in compatibility mode? And did you run Intralink?

Yes, FlexLM sounds right for R20. You have to get it running first, Pro/E won't start without being able to contact it. I did not use compatibility mode. I vaguely remember there being something in the path to one of the scripts that I had to manually edit to get everything to run. Carefully look at any error message to see if you can spot a discrepancy. It is slowly coming back to me now that during the install something would try to detect the OS & if it did not find NT/2000 it would default to Win98 which is wrong for XP.

I have never used Intralink.

Ok, I have some more errors that I have found. I was in the install of FlexLM and when I imported the old license file, it said all of the modules were valid, and here is the kicker, I changed the host ID and all of the modules remained valid, but as soon as I changed the cpu ID (MAC address) very thing went invalid. I know I put in the correct MAC address. What could be telling it that its invalid? It makes no sense to me at all. Any ideas?

Correct, so did Pro/E goof up on the license that they sent me?

HA!! They did goof up! They forgot to add my IntraLink back into the license file. Geez, I was going crazy here trying to figure out what was going on. Didn't make any sense at all. It should have been working. Anyways, they are fixing it and sending me the updated license file with in the hour. Thanks for all of your help guys! I really appreciate it!
