API 579- level 3 fitness for service assessment for steam turbine casing crack evaluation

We are facing chronic cracks on the inner side of a steam turbine's outer casing. We intend to perform the fitness for service assessment to find the critical crack length and remaining life of the casing. Can we use API 579 code for the evaluation of this turbine casing?
Does API 579 rules also apply to machinery parts or they can only be used for pressure vessels?
