Hello,
A client is requesting for X70 API 5L but the dimensions of the pipe is out of the table 9 " Permissible Specified Outsie Diameter and Specified Wall Thickness".
18" x 92mm . According to table 9 the maximum WT for this OD is 45mm (1.771 inch).
How can i certify this material? Because the client wants that the pipe comply with API 5L requirements.

HOw we can proceed when the clients ask for something out of the Spec API 5L or we can not comply with the tolerances? I know that to be API 5L pipes they have to comply with everything, but what can we do on these cases? If the API 5L deviation are agreed between both parts, how can i certifiy the pipes with this deviations?

Thanks for your comments

Those limits exist because pipe exceeding those limits has material and manufacturing difficulties that are not necessarily addressed by the requirements of the standard.

That is seriously thick pipe. Literal "gun barrel". Can you meet all the API 5L requirements except the specified wall thickness, or will you have to take exception to other requirements (e.g., tolerances, material properties)?

You can "comply with API 5L requirements" (complying with all manufacturing, testing, and quality requirements) without certifying it as API 5L pipe. It's just pipe at that point, but you need to be crystal clear with you customer about what they are buying.
