Water Injection pipeline about 8 km

Design Pressure 139 Bar, above ground.

Solar radiation temp 95 c.degree, design temp 75 c.degree.

Peoject Spec for Line pipe, APL 5L X52 PSL 2, WT 17.5mm. 3PE coating.

However, only APL 5L X52 PSL 1 is market available. Could PSL 1 be alternative to PLS 2 technically?

Thanks for any tips.

David

1. If there is a 'solar radiation temperature' of 95 deg C, how can the design temperature of the pipeline be 75 deg C?

2. An above ground pipeline will not require a PE coating.

PSL 1 can always be an alternative if the owner of the pipeline deems it so. It would be best to ask the owner rather than the frequenters of this forum.

Hi Steve Jones,

Sorry for the mistake. It is not 3pe coated. It is only normal painting for above ground pipe, such as FBE.

The pipeline is for water transfer. So the design temp is 75 rather than 95.

Thanks.

David

There are numerous quality issues related to the specification of a PSL2 product. I advise your read API-5L to understand the differences between PSL-1 and PSL-2 and discuss these differences with the Owner before accepting the lower quality PSL-1 product.
