Hi fellow engineers,
My company is into some problems due to valves not being API 6D as expected, the final user is willing to consider this deviation as long as we can prove the valves acceptable for this service.
They asked us regarding NDE Requirements, it isn't clear to me if such NDE tests are mandatory according to API 6D or should be requested by purchaser, API 6D paragraph 8.1 says this: NDE requirements shall conform to Annex G when specified by the purchaser. Additionally, final surface (MT and PT)
and ultrasonic (UT) NDE activities shall be conducted after final heat treatment or post-weld heat treatment. Final
radiography (RT) NDE activities shall be conducted after final heat treatment, unless otherwise agreed so NDE to Annex G should be be specified by the purchaser, but what about the following part for MT, PT and UT, are those mandatory or optional as Annex G's?
