Good day, all.

As you know API6D has its valve face-to-face dimension table also ASME B16.10 also has.
Question:

When we should refer to these standards to identify the face-to-face dimension?
Can we use API 6D with ASME B16.10 dimension?
Please share your notes

IMO an API 6D compliant valve will have a face to face per API 6D. The exception would be where there is no prescribed face to face dimension for that size/class. In that instance it is up to negotiation between manufacturer and end user. It does occasionally occur that a valve was made when there was no face to face dimension in API 6D for a specific size/class but there is now and a replacement is needed where the end dimensions are different to those specified in 6D, but the same as the original valve. In that instance I suggest that the valve would still be API 6D compliant but whether it complies to B16.10 is doubtful!

"Can we use API 6D with ASME B16.10 dimension?" Yes, but this will now be a special valve and will cost you 10 or 20 times what a valve with dimensions that match the main design code would cost.

But ask a vendor. Anything is possible but cost might be rather high....
