API find surfaces

I am reletively new to the SW api and I appologize if this has been covered elsewhere.

I am creating a driveworks project that creates an assembly. The parts in the assembly will change - face ID's are not constant. I need to create a drawing of this assembly that includes overall dimensions.

Is there a way to find the outermost (assembly edge) surfaces of the assembly/drawing in order to place dimensions on them?
