I would like to post this general question, mainly to the reviewers/regulators visiting this forum.

When you get drawings showing an application area (AA) such as this...

do you consider it fine? I personally don't as the area limits are not centered between sprinklers. The problem with this, the way I understand it through many drawings I have received, is that many play this trick to skip one or two sprinklers that would normally have to be included in the AA when centered btw sprinklers.

Would you consider it OK or would you reject the design? Any thoughts appreciated.

I would reject. They need to flow 8 sprinklers on 4 lines and 3 on the last line. That would get them the same 35 sprinklers.

1.2 * DA^0.5. If you exceed the mid spacing between sprinklers with that length, you go to the next sprinkler. That is just basic NFPA 13 as I have always understood it.

What that guy said.

It states a MINIMUM of 1.2 times..

So you cannot just draw 37 feet, or whichever the area works out to.
