Hi Everyone,

I wonder if we could use VdTUV 384 1.8807 material as a boiler drum in ASME Section I. Does anyone know of any ASME code case that allows the use of this material?

How can I choose the proper welding consumables for this material according to ASME?

Which "Code of Construction" was defined in the Contract Documents ?

You must comply with both the CofC and the specific laws of the Nation (Pakistan ?) where the boiler will be installed.

The ASME Code has very specific rules about which materials are permitted for boiler construction AND THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS REQUIRED FOR USAGE OF THOSE MATERIALS THAT ARE NOT

Unfortunately, much of the THIRD WORLD feels that defined International Codes and Standards mean little ... and that they are something that can be mixed and matched.... (i.e. using a rule from here, then a material from there) ... and then everything will be "safe"

Since the design, inspection, testing and certification of a boiler steam drum presents THE MOST RISK to a fabricator, I do not understand why you would attempt to use a non-ASME permitted material

Can you tell us what the fabricator told you about usage of this material, OR ARE YOU THE FABRICATOR ?

Are you in the mid-east ??

This is a good listing of COMMON equivalent ASME materials used for boiler drum/internals today ...

I do not find "VdTUV 384 1.8807" in this list or any other equivalency list that I could find ... perhaps you have more authoritative information that you are withholding ... a common newbie subterfuge

Where will the boiler be installed and WHAT IS THE CODE OF CONSTRUCTION IN YOUR AGREEMENT ???
