apply concentration load on specimen

Hi..

i would like to ask about how to apply concentrated load at surface which not have point on it. I read comments in other website mentioned about partitioning but which partitioning type better and probably one can suggest me the proper step to make it happen.

a .cae file ? attach as .jpg or .pdf.

why can't you create a point where you need it and adapt the mesh ?

you mean after i develop 3d part..n create a point after that?..

you're still attaching .cae file ... please just a picture of the model, not the model itself.

i mean that you can either ...
1) create the point where you want it and embedd it in the mesh (force it to creat a node there), or
2) refine the mesh breaking elements near the point you want to create your loading point.

is it a 3D model (solid elements) or 2D (linear/planar elments)

hi..

i try meshing first, but the node not really at the centre of surface. Maybe my meshing technique not good..please refer to specimen attached as .pdf....this is half specimen (dog bone). it is a 3D model (solid element).

ok a solid model ...

generate your mesh, see if a node is close to where you want ... adjust the nearest node.

if not, you should be able to refine the element that has your point within it.

if any case, you should be able to define the point and force the meshing to include this point.

Create split lines on your surface that intersect where you want to apply your concentrated load. I don't know what program creates .cae files so I can't tell you how to create the split lines. If you create split lines on your surface most meshers will use them as boudaries and put a node at the intersection of the two lines.
