Hi Guys

I just started learning TNO DIANA 10.1. How can I apply fixed deformations to my model. When I goto loads and apply fixed deformations, the model doesn't get solved and I see the following error.

SEVERITY : ABORT
ERROR CODE: /DIANA/LS/LO40/0304
ERRORMSG.A: Can't manipulate load set vectors: no load sets
Use module INPUT to read load sets, specified in table 'LOADS'
DIANA-JOB ABORTED

What am I doing wrong here?

I'm not familiar with DIANA and this might sound facetious but have you tried doing what the error message recommends? Or are you wondering why you need to specify loads when you only want a fixed deformation? Some nonlinear solvers don't work with only constant displacements and need changing loads or displacements. Or maybe you just need to go through the motions and give it an empty load? At least that ought to cause a different kind of failure if it's still wrong.

Uhmm...well I used to use ANSYS and in that if we specify initial displacements, it does solve. Logically it should solve.

Sure, but this DIANA seems to be very old and unfriendly. Maybe it requires you to choose a solution algorithm. Incrementing force is the basic way to solve non-linear problems but you're using displacement so maybe you have to tell it to use displacement control:

I assume it's non-linear. For linear, that's just strange. I wouldn't expect any problems.
