Hi everyone

I have a load where both the amplitude and position change with respect to time. How do I create this load on ABAQUS, without using a subroutine. I know how to have time-varying amplitude of a load, but I do not know how to create time-varying position.

For example (this is not my specific model, but it's a similar idea), how would you model the stress on a road due to moving vehicles on ABAQUS.

If the only way to model problems like these are with a subroutine, how can I quickly link a FORTRAN compiler with ABAQUS?

Any info would be appreciated

Thanks!

Oops, sorry. I did not read your post carefully. If you are going to need to vary the position of a load, I think you will have to use a subroutine. There is a LOT of information available online regarding linking Abaqus, Visual Studio, and Intel Fortran compiler.

Got it. Thanks IceBreakerSour!

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this without going into subroutine/FORTRAN stuff?? I would rather not go thru the trouble of linking a FORTRAN compiler with ABAQUS (I have no Idea how). I would really like to do this without a subroutine, but I think IceBreakerSour is correct.

you can define a point; load the point; make contact between point and surface; move the point

this is often done in bridge loading by trains or cars
