I am doing a simulation where I need to apply pressure on the edges of my 2D profile but when I select the edge, the whole profile is getting selected not the single edge . And also when the whole profile is selected, the pressure is being applied on the surface and not the edges.

Please help me out.

In which software program exactly are you encountering this problem?

To help you in selection, always use the selection bar. In your case, choose from the drop down list of the selection bar and choose Edge. By doing so, this will help to ease your selection process, where the selection is limited to 'edge' only.

@Tuw thanx for the reply sir but for me its showing options for faces. There is no option for edges when I apply pressure and constraints.

Hi Harshitbhatt,

I think this is because pressure is normally applied on face. If you want to apply a load on edge, then you should calculate the value for "force", and use "force" instead of "pressure".

For your information, force and pressure are having the same keyword in Nastran. So it is not wrong to use "force" to represent "pressuure". Do your calculation on the total force induced by your pressure (force over area). The total force magnitude must be the same when applied on the edge.

@Tuw thank you for the answer sir. I will try it out and can you please tell me how to check the quality of mesh.

I mean when we do the meshing and after its done how can we say whether the mesh done is ok for the model or not?

Hi Harshitbhatt,

Use the Element Quality command, select the mesh to check, click Check Elements for the report.

Kind regards,

@Tuw thank you for the reply sir. I did the same and its showing me 0 failed,1365warning.

Whats the meaning of this?

Thank you for your valuable reply.

Hi Harshitbhatt,

By all means, you can try to run the analysis. If the analysis result is terminated due to error, then you know the mesh quality might be the cause. If you are not satisfied with the contour smoothness in your result viewing, the mesh quality might suggest something too. This is an indicator on how well your mesh quality is, based on the default threshold value of NX software. Some other software might have different threshold value. And depends of different analysis, for example fluid flow analysis, the threshold value recommended might be different.

And for keeping this professional, please split this thread next time, re-create a new thread for different topic - mesh quality, so not to confuse the forumer.

Kind regards,
Tuw

@Tuw thank you sir.

Ya I am sorry for the same. Will keep in mind next time.

Thank you for the reply.
