Hello everyone,
I am trying to find a good program for modeling and evaluating a drive shaft system composed of shaft, bearings and various gearing configurations. I am looking at the program's structural, thermal and vibrational analysis tools. I know that there are several different programs that have this capability but I am having a hard time finding more of the specifics on their capabilities. I'd also like to know if there are ways to import the components of such a system without having to model everything from scratch in a CAD program. I have been looking specifically at Adams, Comsol, and Simpack but have also had Abaqus, Ansys and Simulia suggested.

If this is the wrong place for this thread then please just let me know. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

Wander along to your local MSC shop and talk about your specific requirements with them. You /may/ get what you want out of a multiphysics package. My suspicion is that you will need several different products, tho there is a chance that Nastran or any of the big FEA suites will do it as you don't seem to want MBD.

Greg,
Thanks for the advice. I have been in contact with several different companies, including MSC, and they have been very helpful.
